This week we learned about the stages of Instructional Design. The stages of ID are included in carrying out a face to face classroom, but like Bridget pointed out, implementation of an online course has the development of the material also present. It was interesting to learn that she was part of a team developing a textbook and some of the issues she ran into. That goes back to what was mentioned in class that being a part of a team has strengths, but it also adds setbacks as well.
Theresa’s Seven Principles of good practice were interesting to read. These seven principles are really essential in good teaching whether teaching an online course or a face to face course. She also pointed out that a good team works together and keeps the diverse needs of the learner. That’s the bottom line - the needs of the learner - especially in an online course, otherwise I would imagine that people wouldn’t be signing up for a course if it’s not what they need.
